Fresh vs silk? For some this is an easy decision, for other it is not. For me it was easy, my wedding was silk, simply for the fact that I could make them myself ahead of time. In the eyes of some flowers are only beautiful if they are fresh. Oh and the beauty that can be found when the perfect bloom if at its' prime. But silk flowers also have there beautiful place in weddings. Now I know what you probably are thinking, silk flowers look cheap. Well some silk flowers can/do look cheap but there are also silk flowers that are so real looking people will stop and smell. It can be tough to decide what type of flowers are best for your event. Before you do here are some things to consider.

Pros
Fresh - Natural Smell, fresh flower look, traditional
Silk - More color options, year round availability, usually less expensive, won't wilt/die, can be scented, resale value, no one will be allergic

Cons
Fresh - Usually More Expensive, limited availability, wilting/dying, needs preserving to save, allergies
    Silk - Can look unnatural

When I mentioned above that silk flowers are usually less expensive, this is generally the case but not always. With silk flowers you get what you pay for. Each wedding is different but if price is your only deciding factor we are happy to quote prices for both fresh and silk flowers for your event. Blooming Envy prides itself on using high quality silks that are very close to the real thing.

Sometimes a combination of both is needed to fulfill the design requests of some brides. If you really want fresh flowers but have your heart set on a certain bloom not available when your getting married this would be a perfect solution.

Flowers are great for setting the mood and will add the romance of the event, no matter what type you choose. Feel free to contact us if you have any question, we are happy to help.

Hey Everybody....How are you doing?
On your wedding day where will your florist be? Will you even see them? or will your flowers just be dropped off? Well if you hire Blooming Envy you will find, myself and/or other trusted staff member(s) on site as long as we are needed. This is one of the major benefits of having a personal florist. You are the one and only event we are servicing that day and your event will be our top priority.

One excellent example happen just this last weekend. A cute-as-a-button flower girl is handed a silk flower wand she is to carry for the ceremony. (Knowing who the wand was for, great care was taken to reinforce the flower as much as possible during it's creation.) I believe the cute-as-a-button flower girl either a) danced around with the flower and it hit a tree b) cast a magical spell with too much force or c) smacked the ring bearer. No matter what the cause the flower head popped off and petals were flying. Oh dear... but not to worry. My tool kit was handy, the petals were collected and the glue was found. Less than 5 minutes later the problem was fixed and just in time for her walk down the aisle. I don't even want to think what would they have done had they hired another florist.

Accident repairs are only one of the many personalized services Blooming Envy offers. Why would you want to do without? Contact us, we offer very competitive prices but service like none other! Booking for 2012!

The hustle and bustle of the busy wedding season is upon us. The variety of flowers flowing in and out of our cooler is absolutely exciting. The one flower that truly has earned its time in the spot light is the Rose. The Rose is also the birth flower for June.

Botanical Name:  Rosa

From earliest recordings of flowers the rose was thought to represent love, magic, hope and mystery. Before the sixteenth century, there were very few roses in the West and they rarely bloomed more than once a season. Greeks believed that Aphrodite, the goddess of love, gave a rose to Eros, the god of love.

Roses have many flower meanings according to their color.

Red - Love, Passion
White - Humility, Purity, Innocence
Yellow - Friendship, Caring
Pink - Admiration, Joy, Gratitude
Orange - Enthusiasm, Desire
Lavender - Enchantment, Love at first sight
Green - Harmony, Fertility

Roses are great flowers to use for wedding because they are available all year and come in a wide variety of colors. They also are excellent for boutonnieres and corsages because the hold up very well out of water and will stay looking fresh throughout your event.

Are you or someone you know planning a wedding or special event? Now is a great time to schedule a constulation. For the month of June 2011, if you mention this blog when you contact us, you will receive a $10 discount for every $100 you spend. Don't hesitate, only one event sheduled per day!
